Iraq Reports 21 Fatalities in Devastating Dhi Qar Traffic Accident

The Iraqi Ministry of Health announced on Sunday that the preliminary toll from a horrific traffic accident in Dhi Qar Province has reached 21 fatalities and 19 injuries.

Ministry spokesperson Saif Al-Badr stated in a voice message that some of the bodies were charred and have been transferred to the forensic department. Meanwhile, the injured, including two Iranian nationals, were taken to health facilities for necessary medical treatment, with medical teams continuing to monitor their conditions.

In a related matter, the media office of Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaydi announced that he is closely following the aftermath of the traffic accident that occurred in Al-Bat’ha district, which resulted in numerous casualties and injuries among residents of Basra.

The statement added that the Prime Minister expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured, directing the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the causes of the accident and to provide support and care for the injured and the families of the victims.

Earlier, a security source in Dhi Qar reported that dozens of visitors from Basra were killed or injured due to a traffic accident that was followed by a fire on the international highway linking Dhi Qar and Basra, after a passenger bus collided and was completely engulfed in flames, leading to numerous fatalities and injuries.
